On 1st Feb 2013 I was lucky enough to attend the 3rd Annual Computing Department Sports Day at the Surrey Sports Park, Guildford sponsored by Thales, Consult Hyperion, EDF Energy, and IBM.
The day tested the skills of Computing students (Final Year Undergraduate, Masters and PhD), staff and industry sponsors in the highly technical fields of Table Tennis, Badminton, Football and Basketball! There were also the ‘dreaded’ fun games, complete with barrel-rolling professors for some extra-curricular entertainment! Competition was fierce, but after all the blood, sweat and tears (of laughter) final victory went to the staff.
The event was sound-tracked by GU2 DJ Andy Smith and rounded up with a glitzy awards ceremony, with presentations from Dr Rick Woods, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, and free buffet generously supplied by our sponsors. Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to the organisers, sponsors and everyone who participated. A thoroughly enjoyable day that seems set to become a highlight of the Computing calendar for many years to come. Below is a collage of the pictures taken on that day.
