Website and Online Library improvements

Over the course of summer vacation 2010, we are improving the way that you can find information through the Library’s web pages and electronic resources.

From September 2010, you will be able to access:

  • Library & Learning Support Services Website: a new design
A new look, a new structure, and improved access to the information that you need the most.
  • E-Journals@Surrey: the new name for the E-Journals A-Z List
A new software provider will support this facility, with improved accuracy and far fewer dead-end links.
  • Search@Surrey: a new way to search across e-books, e-journals and databases
A simple and effective search facility that brings together the simplicity of Google and the academic quality of the Library’s subscribed electronic resources.
  • Fulltext@Surrey: the new name for LinkSource
Click on the Fulltext@Surrey logo within a bibliographic database to access a full text article or e-book chapter, where the Library has a current subscription.

While we implement these major improvements, there will be some disruption through August and early September 2010:

  • Links to e-journals within the Library catalogue will be removed for a short period, and then replaced with new, more accurate links.
  • LinkSource links will be removed from citations within bibliographic databases, and then replaced by Fulltext@surrey links over the course of several weeks.
  • E-Journals@Surrey will be launched with the majority of the library’s current e-journal subscriptions included, but this will be quickly improved to ensure all current holdings are listed.

The current E-Journals A-Z list will continue to be available at: http://atoz.ebsco.com/home.asp?Id=unoise

We apologise for the short term inconvenience, and we hope that you find the new services useful and enjoyable to access!
