Extra study spaces in the Library over exams

We’ve added 25 exam style tables in Seminar Room 1 which is on Level 2 of the Library to provide some extra study space over the busy exam period.

The room is open 24 hours until Friday 20 January. If you need help finding somewhere to study in the Library please speak to a member of staff and they will be happy to help.

The university has also advertised additional spaces across campus.

Reserve books, not seats in the Library!

At this busy time of year, please can we remind you that belongings left at a desk for longer than 40 minutes risk being removed. If this happens, you will need to contact the Support Hub on Level 1 to arrange for their return.

If you do need to leave your desk for more than a few minutes (but no longer than 40 mins), don’t forget you can always pick up one of our ‘Take a break’ sheets from Level 1 to let other students  know when you’ll be back.

Please help us to make sure that our valuable study space is used fairly during this busy period.

If you would like to give us any feedback about our reserved seats campaign, please let us know:

Additional space in the Library over exams

To help ease the pressure on spaces over the exam period we’ll be opening up a couple of extra staff rooms:

  • In Seminar Room 1 on Level 2 there’ll be 20 exam tables set up for individual study from Tuesday 10 – Friday 20 January.
  • The SPLASH training room on Level 3 will be open from midday each day Monday 9 – Friday 13 January.

In addition, to help meet the exam-time demand for more quiet study space, part of Level 4 will be changed from group to individual study from Monday 9 – Friday 27 January. The area that’s being changed will be clearly signed and we’ll be asking for your feedback on whether you think this has been useful.

And don’t forget, we never close so the Library will be open for you 24 hours a day.

The Library will open 24 hours throughout the Christmas vacation

Don’t forget – we never close, and are open every day of the year!

From 24 December to 3 January, however, the Library will be staffed by our Security team only. Self-service facilities will still be available.

We will be offering remote virtual support throughout this period, so if you have any queries please email us: and we will aim to get back to you as soon as possible.
