James Grant's student passes PhD viva in Vienna

On 13th January 2014, Annegret Burtscher, a joint Ph.D. student of James Grant (Surrey) and Prof. P.G. LeFloch (Paris 6 University), successfully defended her Ph.D. at the University of Vienna. Her thesis is on “Analytic and geometric aspects of spacetimes of low regularity“, and she presented her work on energy estimates for tensor fields under one-sided geometrical bounds, the Einstein-Euler equations, and some of her work on length structures. Ms. Burtscher was awarded the highest possible marks for her Ph.D. (“sehr gut”) and will be awarded a joint Ph.D. from the University of Vienna and Paris 6 University.
