The University of Surrey Library invites you to an open day marking an important stage in the construction of the new Library and Learning Centre, which following intensive work over the summer is now complete to roof level. Drop in to the Library any time between 11am and 4pm to find out more about this exciting project and about the new information resources, workshops and support we have introduced in recent months.

The Construction Team: Estates & Facilities and Volker Fitzpatrick – watch the time lapse video of the building construction and meet members of the team to discuss the construction process and to learn more about further steps to completion in Summer 2011.
Academic Liaison Librarians and Resources Staff who will demonstrate the new look website and various electronic resources including the new EJournals@Surrey site.
SPLASH Student Learning Advice Team Members to learn about the study advice we offer to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, and the face to face support and online resources available.
Additional Learning Support – meet a Learning Support tutor and see examples of how Inspiration software can help you to plan and organize your studies.
Library User Systems and Services to learn more about the new RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) self issue and return scanning system which will be implemented in the new building.
Researcher Development – discover the wide range of training available to researchers and postgraduate research students, including a demonstration of the Researcher Development Action Planner: newly developed web-based software enabling researchers to plan their training and development.
Surrey Scholarship OnLine to discover open access to Surrey research. The SSOL team will be demonstrating their new website.
E.H. Shephard Archive – discover the archive of one of the 20th Century’s greatest black and white illustrators by taking a brief glimpse at some of the works from the collection, open between 12.30pm-1.30pm.
And on Level 5:
Visit the National Resource Centre for Dance – works from the NRCD Archive will be on display in the NRCD study room between 2pm-3pm together with a brief introduction to using the archive catalogue and other resources.
