Helloooooo,
Success! I made it onto the Surrey Dance Squad’s Competitive Ballet team 😀 I am so pleased. I am going back to my roots of dancing. I started out dancing with ballet when I was two and added contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and military. The first social was last night and it was so fun. We were dressed as Native Americans for new members and cowboys for returning members. We played games, made up chants, and just had chats together. We went to citrus, the club on campus, after for their western themed night. It was really nice to get to know a bunch of new people who I automatically have loads in common with. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes us.
Last weekend my Dad and sister were in town, and of course we had to go on an adventure. We drove to the Canterbury Cathedral to the east and then to the coast to see the white chalk cliffs at Botany Bay. The cathedral was stunning. It had a couple levels which you often don’t find, with countless beautiful examples of histories architecture, beautiful artefacts, and interesting stories to be heard. I am not a religious person; however I love visiting churches and cathedrals around the world. They are such a nice peak into the culture of the past. The courtyard looked like they had plucked it straight out of a Harry Potter scene.
After we had been fully impressed by the cathedral, we drove to Botany Bay. We walked along the beach and watched the tide come in. I had always wanted to the white cliffs. They are just so impressive and striking. We went back to the top of the cliffs and went to eat at this amazing restaurant. I must give the English credit, they make some amazing Indian food 😉 I did not really like it when I was at home, but now I make it at home. It is just so flavourful! Both the cathedral and the cliffs were within less than a two hours’ drive. Definitely worth a visit if seeing England and traveling is a motivator for studying abroad.
Tonight my boyfriend and I are going to see Jim Davidson, a comedian, at GLive. We are very excited. On Saturday, we are going on our first adventure in the new car to the New Forest in search of the wild ponies that roam there. When I was younger, my family and I were driving through Dartmoor and found the Dartmoor ponies. We were able to go up to them and they ate out of our hands. Keep in mind they are wild, so we have to be careful. I remember that day like it was yesterday, so I am in search of them once again. I cannot wait to get out on the open countryside roads and really see what this Mini Cooper can do! We are also going to go to a farm in search of some pumpkins. I missed picking a pumpkin at a pumpkin patch last year, so I am making sure it happens this year. There is on 20 minutes from Guildford. I shall report back if it is worth a visit 🙂
Well it is time for me to get to class,
Holly
