Professor David Sampson joined the University of Surrey in January 2018 as Vice-Provost, Research and Innovation. David is responsible for the research and innovation activities across the University. He strongly supports Surrey’s corporate goals of scaling research and its impact through a focus on excellence and strategic advantage, achieved through the practice of its values – especially collaboration and excellence. At the same time, he sees research and innovation as intertwined with education, and seeks to foster synergy for the betterment of Surrey’s intellectual community.
David has a background in physics and engineering research and is active in Biophotonics and Biomedical Optics research.
