Welcome to the University of Surrey’s Child Nursing Blog! We are really excited you are here and can’t wait for you to read some of the amazing posts we have in store for you. From reflections to top tips, we hope this blog will help you through your nursing journey and provide some insight into other’s journeys too! So without further ado, let us introduce the students running the blog this year…
#HelloMyNameIs Chloe and I am the third-year course rep for the 2018 cohort! I have just started my third year of child’s nursing and I’m so excited to be working alongside Aliya this year to bring you some more blogs which we hope will help you along your nursing journey! I can’t tell you how quickly this course has flown by and while my nursing journey has had its highs, lows, and a lot of laughs, I am so excited for my final year. We have just started placement again and I am currently on the general paediatric ward within my locality! I am absolutely loving getting back into the swing of things and managing patients alongside the help of my practice supervisors!
One of my favourite things about being a student nurse is that we get the privilege to learn and help others simultaneously. Feeling as though you have not only developed your knowledge and skills but helped your patients and made a difference at the same time leaves me feeling very fulfilled and it’s one of the best feelings! We are so excited to share the amazing posts we have in store for you and now let me introduce you to the lovely Aliya!…
#HelloMyNameIs Aliya and I have just started my second year of children’s nursing. I am working alongside lovely Chloe this year, writing blog posts and helping to keep the blog interesting and current! I am on my very first placement right now at Great Ormond Street and having the most amazing time (post on this coming soon!). I am very excited about my second year, albeit very different from previous years. If you are beginning your nursing journey here at Surrey, then welcome! We are so excited to have you join us during such a unique time in history; be proud of yourself for getting to this point and for your motivation to bring a fresh perspective to the profession.
The lovely thing about being a student nurse (especially at Surrey!) is everybody is so supportive, therefore however different this year may look, I feel reassured knowing we all have each other and there is always somebody to talk to. This year has been tough and you have done so well to get to where you are! You may not be in lecture halls as much as you hoped, but rest assured that your tutors and teaching fellows will always be there to support you and are only an email away. Whether you’re going into your first, second or final year- good luck! You’ve got this.
We have some exciting posts planned for this year which are scheduled to be posted every other week! If you have an idea for a blog post that you would like to write, we would love to hear from you so please get in touch with either Chloe or myself! – Good luck and enjoy your journey!
