No matter you are engaged in any course of study and research, if you are a very sharp-minded person, one of the great advantages of studying in the UK is that there are many inclusive academic and industry exchange environments and information sharing platforms for us to use, to strengthen our international vision, research level and academic or industry knowledge are of great help to our own study and research and even future employment.
首先,学校内、校际间、学术领域内、学术与产业领域内都有一系列频繁的会议、研讨会甚至是很多非正式的“头脑风暴”,在这里你可以自主的选择感兴趣的领域,学习业内领先的知识、技术、商业模式与领先的场景应用,与他人交换意见与观点,发现潜在的合作伙伴共同进行学术探索与技术开发。我的感受是,尤其是在技术应用日新月异的现代社会,原先分隔的很多领域不断深度融合与交互,这就对与我们的知识与认知结构提出了新的挑战。举个例子,我本人从事的是旅游规划与可持续开发,这本身就是一个发散性复合性很强的学科,伴随着新技术的发展与应用,比如人工智能、大数据、云计算、区块链等,就需要我们研究者拥有更发散的思维与宽广的知识体系去研究这些新技术的应用以及对人类社会与生活的影响。
First of all, there are a series of frequent conferences, seminars and even many informal “brainstorms” within the university, or between universities, across academic and industrial fields, where you can choose your fields of interest independently. From this big platform you can learn the industry’s leading knowledge, technology, business model and leading scenario applications, exchange agendas and ideas with others, and discover potential partners for academic exploration and technology development together. My feeling is that, especially in the modern society with ever-changing technology applications, many previously separated fields continue to be deeply integrated and interacted. This poses new challenges to our knowledge and cognitive structure. For example, I’m now engaging in tourism planning and sustainable development, which itself is a highly divergent and complex subject, accompanied by the development and application of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, and block Chains, etc., require our researchers to have more divergent thinking and a broader knowledge system to study the application of these new technologies and their impacts on human society and life.
在去年第一学期结束时,在学长与研究室里其他同事的推荐下,我开始把兴趣拓展到一些我们萨里大学之外的学术与行业交流活动。很多活动都是免费参加的,由各大学校、研究机构、行业协会、咨询、智库,甚至是学校的学生会与学生社团等参与举办,在很多普通的社交媒体比如Facebook上就能发现活动链接,萨里大学也会定期的推送相关活动信息。
