I resigned from my previous job and transformed from a nine-to-five worker into a student roaming the campus. This adventure in the UK has been the most interesting period of my life. Recently, I was honored to become a member of “Proud to be Surrey,” tasked with sharing the story of the University of Surrey’s global community with audiences worldwide.
The University of Surrey boasts 142,000 alumni from 184 countries, truly reflecting its global nature. Each year, we welcome over 4,500 new students from around the world. Located near London in the quaint town of Guildford, the university features two picturesque campuses. Students choose Surrey for numerous reasons: it is consistently ranked as one of the safest universities in the UK; our student satisfaction ranked fourth in the UK in the 2023 National Student Survey; and our impressive graduate employment rates, excellent career support services, and top-tier campus facilities are key attractions.
Studying in London offers unique opportunities but comes with higher tuition and living costs. In contrast, the University of Surrey is set in the beautiful, tranquil town of Guildford, just a 30-minute train ride from vibrant and diverse London, which hosts an array of exciting daily events, offering endless experiences.

Surrey Sports Park was one of the training bases for the 2012 London Olympics. Sports enthusiasts can use world-class sports and health facilities here, including a fully-equipped gym, swimming pool, and Olympic-standard training venues. Students also enjoy membership discounts.
We have a Career Guidance Center specifically for international students, offering resources and help to understand the job markets in the UK and other global locations and different countries’ work visa regulations. Moreover, from the day you become a Surrey student to three years after graduation, our career guidance counselors are available to you.
Traditionally, the University of Surrey’s graduation ceremonies are held next to the campus at the historic and magnificent Guildford Cathedral, adding a grand sense of ceremony to the graduation.
The University of Surrey’s Students’ Union is a vibrant and inclusive place. Here, you can find a variety of clubs and organizations, meet like-minded friends, and participate in various activities organized by the Students’ Union to help international students integrate better into the loving community at Surrey.
