The University Ethics Committee reviews research applications that involve human participants to ensure we work in a way that is fair and reasonable for the people who are the subjects in our research. This covers a very broad range of topics from studies of children in care, veterans of the armed services, understanding sleep, cultural issues, racism/harassment, sexuality, cancer in young people, what people think of AI and uses of social media – these are just some of the many different projects we are working on at Surrey.
If you would like to help us ensure that the research we do at Surrey upholds strong ethical standards – research that is it fair, reasonable, and upholds the rights and dignity of research participants, please get in touch. We guarantee the work will be interesting and can also enhance your CV.
We are looking for ECRs, PGRs, as well as admin/technical/academic staff and academics to ensure we have all parts of our research community represented within the University Ethics Committee.
No prior experience with ethics or ethical review is required as full training is provided.
If interested, please send an email to ethics@surrey.ac.uk and we will be happy to provide further details. Alternatively, you can email me, Kevin Wells, the Chair of the Committee directly at UECChair@surrey.ac.uk or k.wells@surrey.ac.uk and I will be happy to email/call you back.
