Building work in the Library & Learning Centre over the summer

Phase II of improvement works to the Library & Learning Centre will be taking place this summer. As well as external work to repair and improve the west end of the building, the old Library entrance and reception area is being completely refurbished to provide improved access to special collections and archives.

The work will involve some disruption to normal services. If you will be using the Library over the summer please be aware of the following:

  • Noise – there will be some noise due to the exterior work at the west end of the building and also on the ground level of the Library building. We will be working closely with the contractors to keep noise levels to a minimum and we will provide advance notice of periods when noise may have an impact wherever possible.
  • Access – the ground level entrance to the original Library building will be closed for the duration of the work to that area – the date for this will be circulated once the schedule has been finalised.
  • Library store and archive material – there will be restricted access to some materials as they are moved, again, we’ll update with more details as collection moves are finalised.
