The next phase of the Library redevelopment project begins summer 2013 with refurbishment of Levels 4 and 5 of the old Library building – Level 5 work taking place this summer and Level 4 in summer 2014.
Externally work also begins soon to clad the old building in line with the look of the new Learning Centre. This is not just cosmetic but will also help to keep out the leaks and cold!
New Level 5 facilities
There are some great new facilities planned for Level 5, building on the successful learning spaces which are so popular with students in the Learning Centre and providing some dedicated training and networking facilities for PGRs:
• A new silent study room (similar to the one in the Learning Centre), to provide insulated silent study space
• Additional computers in the open plan areas with new, modern furniture
• Flexible and dedicated PGR training room to support the extended researcher training programme
• An informal collaborative space for researchers to meet and network with other researchers across campus
We look forward to welcoming you to this much improved space in the Autumn, and to bear with us during some unavoidable noise and disruption in the summer. We will be providing regular updates about when noisy work is planned and Level 5 stock relocations, but if you have any particular concerns or queries please don’t hesitate to contact Clare West, Customer Services Experience Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org 01483 683951).
