Final year students – your Library highlights

As we approach the end of your final year, we just wanted to take a moment to reflect and reminisce about some of the Library highlights during your time here at Surrey:

  • We created over 200 additional study spaces and refurbished all levels of the Library.

  • We provided priority seating for final year students.
  • We continued our offering of Library+ (over in AC03) to provide additional study space during revision and exam periods.
  • We established a new Learning Development Zone on Level 1, making these services more visible and accessible to students.

  • We launched a Maths and Statistics service.
  • We established PAWS (Peer Assisted Writing Scheme), in which final year UG and PG students become mentors for first and second year students.
  • We continued our partnership with Student Curators to highlight, expand and further diversify our collections.

  • We launched our Live Chat service, making it easier for you to get in touch with us and receive quick answers to your questions.

Over the past year, we have supported the University’s hybrid approach to teaching and learning. We know it’s been hard, but we have tried to make this challenging final year as successful as possible for you by offering the following:

  • Click and Collect / Click and Post services – Library staff have been busy getting essential print books to you as quickly as possible, wherever you are studying during the national lockdown.
  • A safe and COVID secure, bookable study environment for those of you still on campus to use.
  • A comprehensive suite of learning tools available via your dedicated SurreyLearn ‘my Learning Development‘ module.
  • Improved and more seamless access to our online resources.

All of the above has been done in response to your feedback, and we want to continue supporting you as you approach this critical period in your learning journey here at Surrey. Let us know what we can do for you by getting in touch: library@surrey.ac.uk.

All comments, suggestions and feedback very welcome.
