Essential Library Maintenance
You might notice some unusual activity in the Library today and for the rest of the week. Our fire alarm system is being tested. This will not involve the fire alarm sounding so there should be no loud noises to disturb your studies. The usual fire alarm test will take place around 9am Tuesday, 20 June, and this will just be a brief sound test. As always if you hear the fire alarm ring continuously you should locate your nearest ‘Fire Exit’ – follow the green hanging signs – and exit the building to the nearest assembly point.
Our decorator is giving the groups study rooms a refresh so look out for signage to let you know which rooms will be closed this week.
The IT in our group study rooms is also being upgraded so please look out for signage to let you know which rooms are unavailable when. We have booked the rooms out to us to minimise disruption to you, but we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Some PCs in the Library are also being upgraded. Please look out for notices and use another PC which isn’t being upgraded.
Please come to the Library and Learning Hive for support in finding a place to study.
Welcome to new students
We are looking forward to welcoming all new pre-masters students who started their course today. Please ask at the Library and Learning Hive on Level 1 if you need help with using the Library.
Open Day Saturday 24 June
The Library will be welcoming prospective students and their families as part of Open Day this Saturday. Pop in to the Library, Level 1, for a short introductory tour. Our Archives and Special Collections will be open on the Ground Level (Teaching Block end) from 10 am – 2 pm. If you would like to find out more about the Library’s past why not come and see the display on Level 1 of the Library now. All items are facsimile copies of holdings in the University Archive.
