Winter holidays are the perfect time to relax, recharge, and make the most of the season. Whether you prefer adventure, productivity, or cozying up at home, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here are a few ideas to inspire you this winter break:
1. Winterfest at the University of Surrey
If you’re staying on campus during the winter break, there are plenty of events to keep you entertained, such as Painting by Numbers, Movie Afternoons, Board Games, Arts and Crafts. You could also grab a free tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and chat with friendly faces from the Chaplaincy. On Christmas Day, the Library will offer snacks and small gifts to visitors, while Hillside Food Court hosts a free Christmas lunch. Do book your spot in advance!!
2. Travel
Winter is a magical time to explore new destinations. If you’re looking for a winter wonderland experience, consider skiing or snowboarding in the Alps or visiting iconic Christmas markets in Europe or around the UK.
Traveling during the holidays also gives you a chance to experience different cultural traditions, try new foods, and create lasting memories. Be sure to plan ahead and check weather conditions to ensure a smooth trip!
3. Study
The holidays can also be a great time to catch up or get ahead academically. Use this time to review your coursework, work on assignments, or learn something new. This might mean brushing up on challenging subjects or starting on next semester’s topics. Most importantly, you can take this time to prepare for your upcoming exams in January.
4. Work
Winter break is an excellent opportunity to earn some extra cash or gain valuable work experience. Consider taking on a part-time job, seasonal work, or freelance projects during this time.
5. Pursue Hobbies
If you’ve been meaning to explore or deepen your interests, now’s the time. Work on personal projects, enhance your skills, or try something completely new. Whether it’s hiking, painting, or baking, dedicating time to your passions can be incredibly rewarding.
In Summary
The winter holidays are what you make of them. Whether you prioritise adventure, learning, or relaxation, the key is to find a balance that leaves you feeling refreshed and fulfilled. Don’t forget to enjoy your holidays. I wish everyone here Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!
