Korean Day

Hello everyone!

It has been really hectic lately and it is especially so for Final Year students! The workload is pretty similar to studying in Polytechnic in your Final Year, but without FYP/ dissertation! (That’s just for my course, not applicable to all courses though!) If you’re thinking that studying abroad is “easier”, then you’re really wrong! There are many more factors that you would have to be concerned such as, your daily necessities, meals, up-keeping of your own room, finding an accommodation, drastic temperature change and many more! These would require you to be more independent and have better time management too! But don’t fret, the first few months might be a little tough, but things will definitely get better as you settle down!

Having studied Japanese back in Ngee Ann in Singapore, I decided to take up a new language – Korean as an elective over in Surrey. There is a Global Graduate Award (GGA) programme in Surrey, where it allows you to take up a variety of languages from Spanish to French, Mandarin and many more. This is similar to NP’s Foreign Language Programme, where it is university-wide and is open to all students in the University of Surrey FREE! It is a 2-hour weekly class with some assessments along the whole module, throughout the entire academic year. The module taken will also be recorded in your transcript! Being a Kdrama fanatic, I decided to take up Korean!

Even though I have been kept busy with all the assignments, I was really fortunate to have friends who could cook well! They decided to cook a sumptuous Korean themed meal, everything made from scratch!

This is the wonderful bunch of people that I have spent the great night with! 🙂

The same group of girls who cooked that night also started selling these delicious food on campus! I really love the food they made! Last week, they had vegetable glass noodles and korean fried chicken on sale!

While this week, they have Jajangmyeon and Tteokbokki ! Do check them out at Jjang 짱!

또만납시다!
Till next time, xx
