Hello! I am Wookjun Lee who is studying MSc International tourism management. This time I would like to talk about the presidential election.

This is the selection of the 20th Korean president election. Until the election of the 18th Korean president, basically, the election was December 19th. However, on March 10th 2017, the 18th president was impeached by the constitutional court, the last election happened on May 9th. At that time, I was in the military and kept the ballot box.

This election date is March 9th but, London is too far from Seoul so from February 23rd to February 28th, the Korean people in England can vote at the South Korea embassy. I voted on February 26th.

Before going to the embassy, I watched various debating. I decided and selected. It was really difficult to choose because all candidates have risks.
Anyway, voting is really important. Even though all people have different thinking but it could be expressed when we vote. Therefore, if it’s possible then a vote is necessary. I just hope that the future president will lead the country in a nice way.

안녕하세요! 국제관광학 석사른 전공중에 있는 이욱준입니다. 오늘은 대통령 선거에 관해 이야기해보자 합니다.

원래대로면 3월 9일에 선거를 해야되지만 런던은 서울과 너무나도 먼지라 그렇게 할수는 없고 대신 주영대한민국대사관에서 2월 23일부터 28일까지 선거를 할 수 있습니다. 저의 경우 26일이 토요일이라 사람들도 만날 겸 진행을 했습니다.

정치이념을 떠나서 투표행위 자체가 중요한 것같습니다. 이번 3월 9일이 대통령선거일이 되게 된 결정적인 집회현장에 저는 당시 의무경찰로 복무중이었고 당시 집회의 최전선에서 안전한 집회를 위해 최선을 다했던 기억이 납니다. 그 때 당시에 민주주의는 그냥 이루어지는 것이 아니라 여러 사람의 피땀이 모여 이루어지는 것이고 그 민주주의 꽃이 투표가 아닐까 조심스럽게 생각해봅니다.

저도 여러 생각이 많아집니다. 어떻게 하면 이 부족한 제가 그래도 국가를 위해 조금이라도 노력을 할 지 말입니다. 그러기 위해서는 제가 하루하루 노력을 해야 될 듯합니다.
