1. 申請書
相信各位對於申請本校不陌生. 小編彙集了一些在電話訪問時, 和申請書相關的問題與解答. 當然, 如果有其他疑問我未能概括回答的, 請在部落格上留言或是寄電子郵件讓我知道
Q: IELTS未考過指定成績
A: IELTS指定成績是其中一項學校不會寬厚的入學要求, 所以未達到標準的同學們可以選擇繼續考試直到成績符合要求, 或者選擇預先來學校的暑期語文寫作以及正式課程對應加強班, 通過暑期期末考試後方可開始正式課程. 暑期班申請資格為報考UKVI, 對應考試結果, 可以申請學校暑期一, 二, 亦或是三個月的語言班. 小編詢問許多參加過暑期班的學生, 回答都屬正面, 並且都推薦參加暑期班, 所以各位同學可以考慮考慮.
Q: 目前在校成績未達入學標準
A: 小編我呢, 本身其實是未達成績標準入學的. 當初在計算的時候就知道剩下的一學期就算全科滿分都無法達到入學標準. 或許相對來講其他方面(IELTS成績, personal statement, resume等)的表現很重要, 所以學校在這方面能有所通融. 不過還是希望各位能盡可能達到與標準相近的成績, 入學機會相對提高許多.
Q: 申請期限將至, 但大學畢業證書遲遲未現
A: 小編我呢, 也是經歷到畢業證書遲遲未現(怎麼什麼事情都讓小編碰到)之後成功入學. 基本上, 如果同學們非常有意願來薩里就讀, 請各位先按下接受OFFER的選項. 如此以來學校會知道同學們有意思要入學, 就會等到相關文件都湊齊之後給發入學許可. 小編我是2014十一月份提出申請, 2015年七月才被學校確切認可因為畢業證書六月底才到, 所以在這裡建議各位還是先把重點放在綜合成績和IELTS成績上面.
Q: 苦等學校通知無果
A: 各位同學們, 因為龐大的申請要求, 學校會需要較長校閱和審核的時間, 一般來說是六至八個禮拜. 如果您在申請後第一至二個禮拜沒有收到學校通知, 小編於此特別請各位同仁不要抓狂, 你沒有被遺忘. 再者, 不管學校接受或者拒絕入學申請, 都一定會給予通知, 所以還是請各位淡定淡定再淡定, 耐心等待方為上策. 但是如果同學們在六至八個禮拜的時候還是沒有收到通知, 那就建議打個電話至學校詢問, 亦或是請代辦幫忙聯絡.

2. 環境
薩里大學位於倫敦西南方, 火車三至四十分鐘, 開車一小時左右的吉爾福德郡裡. 天氣時雨時晴, 最高溫度可達攝氏25-30, 最低溫度攝氏零下1-5度. 薩里雖然多數毛毛細雨, 但因為風大, 雨點會比平常來的銳利許多. 提醒各位鄉親父老來的時候記得帶一把堅固且面積大的雨傘.
許多同學來英國都希望在大城市裡讀書, 一來生活比較便利, 二來娛樂比較多樣化. 嗯哼, 薩利可能不如你所期待的都市化, 娛樂項目也相對來講並不是這麼繁多. 但可以保證的是它被評為英國最低犯罪率的郡里, 也是最適合讀書的環境之一. 如果需要到倫敦採買, 亦或是到其他著名景點甚至是學校參觀, 火車都能在非常短的時間之內帶各位到達目的地.
3. 住宿
其中一個同學們有比較多疑問的莫過於住宿方面的相關資訊. 在這裡和大家說, 學校宿舍要在被給予入學通知後才可申請. 申請表的連結會在入學通知當下或者一週左右以電子郵件方式寄到各位的信箱. 當然, 有同學會有疑慮: 如果到了接近開學日期的前一到三個月才得到申請入宿的機會, 會不會沒有房間? 小編當時呢, 到了七月中左右的時間才申請宿舍, 離入宿日期9/26差不多兩個月多一點的時間, 最後還是如願以償的進入當初第一選擇的房型. 但還是有遇到申請了卻沒有房間可以住的學生; 有些在附近租房子, 有些呢則是先住旅館等待空房間(空房間: 有些確認就讀的學生在開學前一刻突然決定不克前往, 亦或是學生學期中有要事急需離開) , 所以一切都要看各位申請的房型有多搶手, 當然還有申請的時間段了.
學校宿舍區域分為部分:
Guildford Court, Twyford Court, International House – 位於學校的主校區西邊邊側, 為校區裡較為新的宿舍, 並且提供單人間房型, 包括個人衛浴.
University Court, Mellinium House – 位於學校的主校區東邊邊側, 提供單人間房型, 包括衛浴房型.
Cathedral Court, Battersea Court, Surrey Court, Stag Hill Court – 位於主校區內, 離所有教室和學院最近的宿舍區域, 相對學習方便.
Manor Park, Bellerby Court – 位於校區西邊, 巴士8-12分鐘的車程, 步行18-25分鐘以外的宿舍. 每一間房間都附有個人衛浴.
Hazel Farm – 位於校區北邊20-25分鐘車程, 步行38-45分鐘的小區. 周圍是普通住宅, 為最安靜的區域.
以下是學校提供入宿的房型 提供各為參考:
Band A
房型A為學校最經濟的選項. 提供Band A的宿舍區域為Stag Hill Court和Hazel Farm
位於Stag Hill Court 的Band A 房間有兩層樓, 兩位學生分享一個房間, 一個出口. 有個人網路接口和電話線. 兩個房間(四人)共用一間衛浴, 並且有一個鄰近的廚房供10人使用.
位於Hazel Farm 的Band A為獨立間, 內附網路接口. 一間房子裡會有七間獨立Band A, 一個廚房, 一間衛浴, 和兩間洗手間(廁所).
Band B
房型B為學校第二經濟選項, 多數房間內會附設一個洗手台和一面鏡子. 提供Band B的宿舍區域為Guildford Court 和 Hazel Farm.
位於Guildford Court的Band B房間內附設一個洗手台和一面鏡子. 一間房子內有十四間房間, 三個衛浴和一個廚房.
位於Hazel Farm的Band B多數房間內設有一個洗手台和一面鏡子. 一間房子內有兩層樓, 六間房間, 兩間衛浴和一個廚房/交誼廳.
Band C
房型C與房型B的設置大同小異, 房型C有些房間比房型B稍大一些. 提供Band C的宿舍區域為 Battersea Court, Surrey Court, Cathedral Court, Stag Hill Court, Twyford Court, 和University Court.
Battersea Court和Surrey Court為四至五層樓的學生宿舍, 每一層樓有十四間Band C房間, 一個廚房, 三間衛浴和三間廁所. 每一間房間都設有獨立洗手檯和鏡子在Battersea大廳設有電視和娛樂設施供學生使用.
Cathedral Court有七間獨棟學生宿舍, 每一間三至四層樓, 每一層有七間Band C房間, 一個廚房, 兩間廁所和兩間衛浴. 每一間房間內都設有獨立洗手台和鏡子. Cathedral Court大廳設有電視和撞球桌供學生使用.
Stag Hill Court有43棟兩層單人房間, 每一棟都有六間Band C房間, 兩間Band A房間, 一個廚房. 房間內未設洗手檯. 每兩間Band C共用一間廁所, 衛浴, 和一個洗手檯.
Twyford Court的每一個宿舍公寓有五間Band C房間, 一個廚房, 兩間廁所和兩間衛浴. 每一個房間都設有獨立洗手檯. 住在Twyford Court 和 Cathedral Court共用一個交誼大廳.
University Court的每一個宿舍公寓有五間Band C房間, 一間衛浴和兩間廁所. 每七位入住University Court的學生分享一間鄰近Guildford Station(火車站)的廚房.
Band D
房型D為學校擁有最多的房型. 每一間都附有單人衛浴, 與其他六至七個房間的學生共用一個廚房. 提供Band C的宿舍區域為Manor Park, Bellerby Court, Twyford Court, University Court, Millennium House, International House.
Manor Park為學校較新的宿舍區域, 每一層樓都有兩個宿舍公寓, 每一個宿舍公寓都有六至八個Band D和Band E房間和一個共用廚房. 洗衣房位於宿舍區域的中間和入口處. Tesco超市也在Manor Park 步行約10分鐘的地方. 相對來說非常方便的宿舍區域.
Bellerby Court有三棟三層樓的宿舍, 每一棟都有六個宿舍公寓, 每一個宿舍公寓都有六間Band D房間和一個共用廚房, 離Tesco最為鄰近的宿舍區域, 對街為Royal Surrey County Hospital(醫院).
Twyford Court有七棟三層樓房子, 每一層有十二間Band D房間和一個共用廚房, 離主校區近卻又安靜的宿舍區域.
University Court有十七洞二至三層樓的宿舍, 每一層樓有十到十四間Band D和Band E房間和一個共用廚房, 鄰近Town Centre(小鎮)和Railway Station(車站)的宿舍區域.
Millennium House, 也被稱之為”火車”, 位於學校的東邊邊境, 為離火車站最近的區域. Mellennium House擁有34個宿舍公寓. 每一個宿舍公寓有六間Band D房間和一個共用廚房.
International House有43個宿舍公寓, 每一個宿舍公寓有六間Band D和Band E房間和一個共用廚房. International House和Cathedral Court共用一個交誼大廳. 相較於Manor Park, International House的房間稍為老舊一些, 但離學院和教室較為接近.
Band E
房型E為學校提共之最大的單人房間, 附設衛浴和廁所. 和房型D相比有50%的空間差異. 提供Band E的宿舍區域為Manor Park, International House和 University Court.
Manor Park的Band E房間提供雙人床, International House/University Court的Band E房間則是單人床. 多數入住Band E房間的學生會和Band D房間的學生共用一個廚房.
Band F
房型F為無隔間之套房. 多數提供給情侶或是家庭. 每一間套房內都有廚房(鐵爐(煎煮炒燉), 微波爐, 冰箱/冷凍箱, 未附大型烤箱(Oven)). 唯一提供Band F的宿舍區域為Manor Park.
4. 通訊
在這裡要分享一項資訊: 學生們基本上都使用一家叫做 Giffgaff 的通訊公司, 是知名品牌O2的副牌.

Hey there! How is everyone doing? Hopefully you are having a nice week so far, and hopefully you have planned out your weekend.
So, when I decided to come to Surrey, I spent DAYS to search for information about the school, the buildings, the facilities, the accommodation, and etc. However, the information was not integrated, so I had to spend times going on different websites for a general idea of the Uni. Therefore, after personally suffering from the frustration, I myself decided to do y’all a favor and put together some info that would come handy before and after you are here. At the same time, if you have any questions, or information that you want, please leave your comments so that I can provide a perfect guide for the upcoming freshers.
ATTENTION! This post is meant to be updated from time to time so the information could be gradually intact. Therefore, please pay a close attention on the top of each new post which I will notify you if I had updated this post.
Now, without further ado,
Application
This is the first step of everything, or anything. Due to the different kind of acadamic background, some of you would need to provide an IELTS score besides an offical transcript, a personal statement, and a study goal. A diploma is required in order to be fully accepted into the Uni, so for those who just (about to) finished the
undergraduate program, it is recommended that you ask your institution for the diploma eariler if your overall acadamic performance were outstanding.
Your application will be reviewed based on THE ORDER(how many people submit applications before you did). Therefore, based on the number of the applications, the decision may take from 4 to 8 weeks. Please Please Please do not freak out if you didn’t hear from the Uni after a week or two from your submission because it would be still in review.
Restroom (How is it hard to find a restroom in the Uni?)
Generally, restrooms in the uni are mostly located at the stairway between floors (Treaky, huh?), so if you couldn’t find the restroom in the building, it is probably waving at you from the stairway.
Library
The Library building consists of five levels. The ground level, where the building entrances are located, has a dining/social area with The Surrey Shop (the convenient store)/Post Office across from it, and AppleSeed (the bookstore) on the other side. There are student clubs promoting their events on the first floor each day, so it could get quite crowded between classes.
When you go upstairs (or take a lift) to level one, you will find the security entrance for the library which a student ID card is required to pass through, and an security free, study/social area with computers that is provided for long stays or high volume conversations. Pass through the entrance, there are quiet study rooms and group study rooms, as well as an open area with several vending machines and a water fountain. Remember, food and drinks (soup) that generate strong odors are not allowed in the library, so you must finish them before you pass through the entrance.
Each floor has a few group study rooms, but not every floor has an individual study area. Now, for those who wish to study without disturbance (individual study), library level 1, 2, and 5 are your best choices, and for those who have a lot to discuss, floor 3 and 4 are suitable for you.
The library generally open 24 hours during weekdays, and from 0:00 to 20:00 during weekends. However, during the weeks of midterm and final, library often operates 24 hours so that you can spend as long as you want to prepare for your exams and assignments.
NOTES: Library hours may differ based on holidays and vacations, so please find below the website to check the hours for the day that you wish to stay in.
