Jock McOrist and Kostas Sfetsos are co-Principal Investigators on a project that has been awarded a FAPESP grant for a joint research project between the Fields, Strings and Geometry Research Group at Surrey and the Insitute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Sao Paolo and Universidade Estadual Paulista both in Brazil.  The project title is “A worldsheet approach to string and field theories“.  It splits £10K between the two parties, and its purpose is to facilitate scientific exchanges between the institutions.  The project begins immediately and extends for 24 months.  FAPESP is the Sao Paulo Research Foundation and their website can be found here.
