Stephen Gourley and team awarded a grant from the Medical Research Council

Stephen Gourley is a member of a team of nine researchers, headed by Martha Betson of the Vet School at Surrey, who have been awarded a £560 K grant from the Medical Research Council to work on a project titled “Zoonotic transmission of intestinal parasites: implications for control and elimination“. The project aims to shed new light on the epidemiology of gut worm infections in humans and animals in the Philippines, with a particular view to quantifying the contribution of animals to human infection and to developing novel control strategies. The team includes scientists from Surrey and from universities in the Philippines.
