Hi everyone!
We received some encouraging news this week as anyone over the age of 18 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland became eligible to go online and book a COVID vaccination appointment! This came just as we saw a rise in the number of coronavirus cases and an increased concern over the new Delta variant in the last week. The government also postponed Stage 4 of their Roadmap out of lockdown from the 21st of June to the 19th of July 2021 to help combat the spread of the virus.
During the weekend, my friends and I decided to plan a trip to the West Midlands (this was COVID-safe, of course, as we remembered to consider simple precautions such as maintaining social distancing, wearing face coverings and washing our hands regularly – as you should :D). We visited Birmingham, the second largest city, urban area and metropolitan area in England and the United Kingdom. Birmingham is also the third largest financial and business hub in Britain after London and Leeds.
While we were there, we visited the famous Bullring shopping mall where we were welcomed by a spectacular selection of shopping and dining places. We took a tour of the town where we saw the town square, Birmingham rag market, Birmingham Museum of Art Gallery as well as the Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum. If we had more time, I would have loved to visit Cadbury World and Sea Life both of which Birmingham is also known for.
This trip reminded me of one of the best reasons to study in the UK and that is how cheap and easy it is to travel and explore cities around the country. I have come to discover that the UK is packed full of rich history and culture that will delight and surprise as it educates you.
Hoping and praying that everyone remains safe during this time.
That’s all for now folks,
Best,
Anne
