The Art of Winnie-the-Pooh – Talk and book signing
On Thursday 19th October between 6.30 – 7.30 pm, University of Surrey’s Archives & Special Collections will be hosting a talk and book signing by James Campbell, Chair of The Shepard Trust, based on his newly published book The Art of Winnie-the-Pooh. It will be an opportunity to hear about the unique collaboration between E.H. Shepard and A.A. Milne and to see previously unpublished artwork, including very early sketches of Pooh bear.
Archives & Special Collections at Surrey house much of E. H. Shepard’s personal archive and have on loan from The Shepard Trust their collection linked to WWI. In addition, we have recently had deposited on loan a collection from Egmont UK Ltd publishers which features artwork for coloured editions of Winnie-the-Pooh and The Wind in the Willows; Matthew our Project Archivist is currently busy working on making this collection accessible.
The event costs just £5.00 and kicks off at 6.00 pm with wine and nibbles, it will be held in Lecture Theatre M. After the talk there will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book at a special on-the-day price from the Appleseed pop-up bookshop – a brilliant opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts or just indulge yourself and relive your childhood!
