Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness at Our University

On Wednesday, April 24th, all staff members received an email inviting them to participate in this year’s annual cybersecurity training. These carefully curated courses cover a wide range of relevant topics, ensuring that every member of our community gains essential knowledge to protect our institution.

Why Is This Training Crucial?

The answer lies in the escalating cyber threats faced by higher education institutions worldwide. According to a 2023 Verizon report, a staggering 74% of cyber breaches result from human error. By providing targeted training and conducting phishing drills, we aim to significantly reduce this risk factor and safeguard the University’s interests.

Last week, the BBC reported that MI5 had issued warnings to UK universities about being targeted by foreign states. Our cybersecurity training empowers each individual within our institution to actively contribute to our cyber defenses.
