Company Overview: RDS International is a pioneer in developing advanced train positioning technology for the rail industry. It uses real time machine vision from forward facing cameras in train cabs. http://www.rdsintl.com/train-positioning-system/

Key Duties/tasks: To utilize bespoke railway industry imagery, along with existing localisation technology, to develop novel strategies for localisation of trains in the railway industry. Special consideration will be given to technologies that are efficient, simple to deploy and can run on embedded hardware.

Knowledge & Skills required: AI for Navigation, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Real-Time Robotics Experience, ROS (Robotic Operating System), Hardware deployment of AI systems.

Skills post graduate researcher will have an opportunity to develop: The PGR will develop real-world expertise in deploying their AI research into embedded hardware in a commercially viable solution. The student will develop their real-time systems experience, as well as their Robotics, AI and Computer Vision skills applied to a specific industry. The student will also develop fundamental projective geometry.

Dates of placement: Ideally Nov start

Duration of opportunity: 3 months

Hours per week: 10-20 hours per week depending on PGR availability

Location: Virtual

Successful candidates receive £10.61 per hour whilst on placement. Preference will be given to those PGRs who are not in receipt of UKRI funding.
