Creating Training Activities (Train the Trainer) – Parts 1 and 2
A bespoke programme intended particularly for University of Surrey Professional Services staff but also open to other colleagues who would like to improve their skills at delivering training and may be of interest to ECRs.
Are you often called on to present your expertise in workshop format, and/or help others learn new information or processes? This two-part course is an opportunity to improve your skills around how to design, structure and create the content for your training, as well as your skills in facilitating and delivering workshops whether in person or online.
About this event
In January the University of Surrey ESRC IAA team are introducing “Creating Training Activities”, a two-part online workshop aimed at Professional Services staff and those delivering training within the University. Delivered by Skillfluence, this bespoke programme is split into two parts:
Part 1: 26th January 2023: 1 – 4pm – Designing, Structuring and Creating Content
Part 2: 30th January 2023: 1 – 4pm – Facilitation and Delivery
You are registering for both!
Attending this workshop will help you will gain skills and confidence in delivering training activity, learning how to distil your area of expertise into an engaging short workshop that can be adjusted and flexed to meet the needs of the participants. You will be introduced to a variety of practical facilitation tools and techniques and will have the chance to create your workshop and test elements with your colleagues.
What will be covered:
• Design and structure: Learn how to create a narrative for your workshop to achieve specific learning outcomes and provide a clear agenda
• Creating Content: Find out how to develop the activities, exercises and content that will engage with participants and achieve their learning outcomes
• Facilitation and Delivery: Learn tools and techniques to maximise engagement, methods to encourage participation and find out how to manage group dynamics
