Announcement of the Doctoral College Conference 2026

This year’s Doctoral College conference, “Research Futures: Priorities for Challenging Times”, will take place in person on 16th-17th June 2026 in the Austin Pearce building on the Stag Hill Campus.

The conference is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate wide-reaching research topics and discoveries that address important and unanswered questions. In an era of changing perspectives and rapidly emerging challenges, the need to amplify previously unheard voices, cross-interdisciplinary boundaries, and build resilience becomes increasingly important.

We welcome submissions from PGRs and ECRs across all faculties within the University of Surrey and hope to receive a diverse range of abstracts that resonate with our conference theme.

The deadline for abstract submissions is Monday 18 May.

We are also going to be inviting expressions of interest from people interested in joining the conference organising committee. Full details of:

  • how to submit abstracts,
  • what is expected from people on the organising committee, and how doing so may be of benefit to you, and
  • how to submit an expression of interest to join the conference organising committee

will be circulated by email shortly.

In advance of the abstract submission deadline and conference, we are offering workshops on:

  • Writing a Conference Abstract (Virtual) – Wednesday 6 May, 10.30am to 12.30pm
  • Building your Professional Network: An Introduction (In Person) – Monday 8 June, 2.00pm to 4.00pm
