Neuro-inclusive Labs Study – Final Call for Participants

Thank you to everyone who has already taken part in our Neuro-inclusive Labs study, either through an interview, focus group, or written response. We are very grateful for your time and for sharing your experiences and perspectives with us.

We are now sending a final call for participation before we close recruitment for the study.

As a reminder, this research aims to better understand how laboratory-based research environments can better support students with diverse cognitive profiles and mental health needs. The study focuses on the experiences of students working in research-intensive settings, including PGRs and undergraduate students undertaking experimental final-year MEng or MSc projects.

If you self-identify as neurodivergent or as having a mental health condition and you work in a research laboratory within FEPS, we would still welcome your participation. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis. Participation is entirely voluntary, and choosing not to take part will not affect your studies or access to support services in any way.

You may choose how you would prefer to participate:

  • a one-to-one interview (45–60 minutes),
  • a small focus group (60–90 minutes), or
  • a written response to the same set of questions.

Sessions will be scheduled at a time that suits you. We are planning to run interviews and focus groups during April, either online (via Microsoft Teams) or in a private room on campus.

If you take part in a scheduled interview or focus group, or submit a completed written response, you will receive a £25 Amazon voucher as a token of appreciation for your time.

If you are interested or would like more information, please complete the expression-of-interest form: Neuroinclusive Labs: Expression of Interest – Fill out form

Completing the form does not commit you to taking part; it simply allows us to contact you with further details. All expressions of interest will be kept confidential.

This study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Surrey Ethics Committee (Ethics reference: RM 3047).

All the best,
