みなさん、こんにちは。前回のポストについて、多くのコメントをいただき感謝しています。毎回異なるテーマに触れることで学生生活を具体的にイメージし、サリー大学で学習することの意味を現実的に捉えていただければ幸いです。さて今日は、サリー大学の魅力についてお話ししたいと思います。
私が考えるサリー大学の魅力は次の3点。アカデミックレベル、インターナショナルな環境、ロケーションです。まずはアカデミックレベルについて。サリー大学は今年、Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016が選出するUniversity of the Yearに選ばれました。これは毎年イギリスの大学に与えられる賞で、アカデミックレベルや学生の満足度等を総合的に精査して選ばれます。1999年に開始以来過去にはケンブリッジ大学やオックスフォード大学、バーミンガム大学等が選ばれていることからもわかるとおり非常に名誉ある賞で、サリー大学がイギリスのトップ大学の一員として認められたことを示しています。次にインターナショナルな環境について。サリー大学では現在約120カ国からの学生が勉学に励んでいます。英語が母国語でない学生も多いため、1年間のFoundation Year（入学準備コース）や短期間のPre Sessional English Programme（英語準備プログラム）、入学後のEnglish Language Support（英語学習サポート）など多くのサポートプログラムが設置されており、英語に自信のない学生にとっても学びやすい環境が整っています。また、サリー大学は126の大学や機関とパートナーシップを結んでおり、学生とスタッフが世界中の環境で学ぶ機会が十分に与えられています。最後に、ロケーションについて。サリー大学の位置するギルフォードの街はイギリス国内で最も安全な街の一つと言われており、学生が生活するには最高の環境と言えます。ショッピングの場所も豊富で、週末には近郊の街から多くの人々が訪れます。また、ロンドンから急行列車で35分、スロートレインで約1時間の距離に位置しており、就活イベントや学術会議が多く開催されるロンドンへも容易にアクセスが可能です。実際私も、先月開催された旅行博（World Travel Market）や英国最大の日本文化イベント（Hyper Japan）へ参加した際には日帰りでロンドンを訪れました。このように、普段は静かで安全な環境で学びながら世界の大都市ロンドンを身近に感じられるのも、サリー大学で学ぶことの魅力の一つと言えます。

Hello, everyone. I have received a number of feedback comments on the last post, and I am so grateful and thankful for that. I hope you will develop a clear image about life at Surrey and realistically picture yourself coming to study here, by reading my blog on a variety of topics.
I believe there are 3 main attractive points that differentiate Surrey from other universities: Academic level, International environment, and Location. First of all, Surrey named University of the Year 2016. University of the Year is an annual award given to a British university or other higher education institution by The Times and The Sunday Times, based on academic level and overall student experience. It indicats that Surrey has been considered one of the top universities in the UK. Secondly, international environment is also one of the unique features of Surrey. With students from over 120 different countries, Surrey is proud to be one of the most culturally diverse universities in the UK. For international students, the university offers a wide range of support programmes including Foundation Year, Pre Sessional English Programme, and English Language Support. Moreover, Surrey is partnered with 126 international universities and institutions abroad, encouraging staff and students to develop their work and studies with leading professionals and academics in their field. Finally, its location advantage is extraordinary, as Guildford is considered one of the safest areas in the UK. In addition, Guildford is only 35 minutes away from London by fast train, and 1 hour with slow train. The convenient location enables students to access to career events or academic conferences in London easily. To give a couple of examples, I went to the global tourism event “World Travel Market” and the UK’s biggest Japanese cultural event “Hyper Japan” last month, both held in London. It is one of the attractive characteristics that you can easily go to London whenever you want and come back on the same day, while staying in a safe and study-oriented environment in your everyday life.
