Works around the Library

Please be aware that there will be works carried out to the Library between the end of term and graduation.

These works have been deferred until after the end of term to minimise disruption during exams and to be undertaken when the campus is quieter. However, we recognise that the campus is still operational and there will be some inconvenience by this work which is essential to draw the construction phase of the project to a close.

The planned schedule is as follows:

17 June Portakabins will be removed. The southern walkway (between Library & lecture Block) will remain open.

18 June Preparation work will be carried out. The southern walkway (between Library & lecture Block) will remain open. There may be a need for isolated temporary closures and diversions.

w/c 20 & 27/6 Groundworks, drainage, kerbing and paving works stretching along the front of the University Library (GEB & Mullens) will be carried out. During this time the main entrance to the library will be unaffected by the work and the minor entrances will remain open (albeit there will be temporary plating and surfaces at time) so we do not envisage there will be serious disruption to access. The southern walkway will remain open although this may at times be blocked by delivery vehicles for the fitting out works.

w/c 4 July The whole of the southern walkway together with the road area outside the front of the library (basically the area which was occupied by Portakabins) is to be resurfaced. There will therefore be temporary closures during this time. This will restrict deliveries to the Print Shop and Library.

We apologise in advance for the disruption caused but I trust you will recognise the need to get this work done with the aim of completing the work in time for Graduation.
