Heyyyyy everyone! Sorry for the super late post as I’ve been really busy packing and moving out from my accommodation last week. But no worries! I’m back again and will be blogging as usual so you guys could read all my latest updates Β eventhough I’m not in campus anymore π
Although it’s a little late, just wanna wish all of you Happy Malaysia Day and for all Chinese people out there, Happy Mid Autumn Festival! Hope everyone of you get to be reunited with family and spend the day eating mooncake and playing with tanglung (lantern) and candles π As for myself, I’ve been missing mooncake so much! As I came to UK right before Mid Autumn Festival last year, I didn’t get to celebrate the festival with my family. My favourite mooncake is the Teochew style spiral yam mooncake and my mum purposely bought it for me before I fly over to UK last year but I got overly excited packing my stuffs and rushing to the airport and thus left the mooncake lying in the fridge and I didn’t even get a bite of it before coming. π And this year I thought I won’t have any mooncake again as it’s so expensive to buy it here, but thank God there’s an Chinese aunty that I know of that gave me 2 whole mooncakes and yayyyyy I’m a happy kid π The aunty also cooked a table of seafood that day to celebrate Mid Autumn festival and it really feels like being at home. π
Okay I guess the introduction for this blog post is a bit too long. π Back to today’s topic. I’m unofficially done with my Masters degree in Surrey! Unofficially simply means I’m basically done with everything in the course but still waiting for the results, certificate and graduation ceremony which will only be in April’17. I moved out of campus accommodation last week and it gets really emotional when I was packing the day before and also on the day that I moved out. I still remember the day I arrived on campus last year on 23rd September 2015 and started unpacking everything and decorating the board in my room. Pinning up the pictures in room just felt like yesterday and it’s already been a year and it’s time to pack up again. π It was raining the whole day when I move out and I guess Guildford feels sad that I’m leaving. π The day before moving out of campus, IΒ stroll around the whole campus taking pictures of every beautiful spots on campus while reminiscing the good times I had in university. I also spent some time sitting by the lakeside, enjoying the sun and watching the ducks and geese. It’s my favourite place on campus as it’s really relaxing and peaceful. I’ve always enjoy spending time reflecting on everything I did or just relaxing myself by the lakeside whenever I feel stressed or troubled. The calmness and tranquility by the lake just has power to heal broken hearts and make me feel better.
The time I had in Surrey no doubt is the best moments of life and I’m already missing Surrey while I’m writing this blog post. I also get to take some pictures at the famous Stag statue with my best friends in university. Most of them are already back in China and it’s reallyΒ sad when we thought of the difficulties in meeting each other again. It was once so easy when everyone is staying on campus and we can just meet each other anytime of the day π Nonetheless, I’m really grateful to be able to study in Surrey and also meet people that I call best friends forever. π
I also stopped by the Duke of Kent building where the recruitment office is located and sayΒ my goodbyes with the international recruitment team. I’m really glad that most of them were in office that day and I get to bid farewell with them before leaving. The international recruitment team is the nicest people I’ve ever met since arriving in Surrey and I will definitely miss them alot. And thus I would really like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the international recruitment team especially Katie, Rachel, Yoshie and Dan for being so kind and caring during the time I’m in the team. Thank you for being so friendly and making me feel like home everytime I go into the office to blog and it has became one of my favourite past time every week and I always look forward for the time of the week to come to go into office. I will definitely miss each and everyone of you and drop by to visit if I’m ever in Guildford! Please don’t forget me π
Okay I guess that’s all for my moving out story. I’m already missing everything in Surrey and can’t wait to go back for visit soon. Thank you so much Surrey for the fun filled year and I’m really glad I’m part of Surrey’s big family. As for all the freshers that are coming in a few days time, no matter for undergraduate or postgraduate degree, I’m so envy of you all cause you all get to spend at least another year in Surrey! π Although you might be busy saying your goodbyes to your friends and family and feeling sad because you will need to leave your house and nice food (mamak) behind, don’t worry Surrey has so much to offer and you’ll definitely enjoy your time here! If you haven’t done so, do join the Malaysian Student Society Surrey (MSSS) group in Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MalaysianSocietySurrey/) Β and also visit them during Fresher’s Fayre! The committee members are really nice and they even compiled a pre departure guide tailor made for us Malaysians so do check it out below!
That’s all for today. π Remember to stay tuned and I will continue to blog about my life in the UK after finishing my Masters. Do feel free to drop me comments below or email us at malaysia@surrey.ac.uk if you have any questions!
Jumpa lagi and take care!
Love xx
