Gregory Faye (Minnesota) and David Lloyd are organising a one-day special workshop at the IMA, University of Minnesota on Tuesday 28 May. The title of the workshop is “Analysis and Computation of Coherent Structures” and the website is here. The aim of this one-day workshop is to present an overview of some of the techniques, such as spatial dynamics, normal forms, geometric singular perturbation theory and numerical continuation, developed in the study of coherent structures in reaction-diffusion equations, neural field equations, and the prototypical Swift-Hohenberg equation. The program will consist of tutorial presentations and research talks on subjects ranging from mathematical and computational analysis to concrete applications
