Robert Gray passed his PhD viva today (4 June), subject to minor corrections and additions. The external examiner was Peter Clarkson (Kent) and the internal examiner was Mark Roberts.    Robert’s thesis, entitled Automorphisms of Lie algebras, includes a complete classification of automorphisms for all six-dimensional real Lie algebras, together with some fundamental theorems on the structure of symmetry algebras of linearizable systems.
