Jon Bevan attended the conference “Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science“, sponsored by the SIAM activity group on maths of materials science, and held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 9-12 June.  He gave a talk on “Austentite as a local minimizer in a model of material microstructure with a surface energy term” in the minisymposium “Geometric instabilities in soft materials”.  The website for the conference is here.
