Kostas Sfetsos is visiting the Theoretical Physics Research Group at the University of Swansea this week.  He is external examiner for a PhD thesis, and then on Friday 17 January he is giving seminar on “A new line of integrable deformations“.  New integrable models having a rich group theoretical structure and interpolating between exact Conformal Field Theories and non-Abelian T-duals are constructed by a gauging procedure.  The talk will present their general physical and mathematical properties. The analysis implies that non-Abelian T-duality preserves integrability and suggests a novel way to resolve issues related to the global properties of the corresponding backgrounds. The talk will comment on various future directions and applications.
