Philip Aston attended the SIAM Life Sciences Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina on 4th-7th August. He was organiser of a minisymposium on Modeling and Inverse Problems of Complex Biological Systems jointly with Hien Tran from North Carolina State University. He also gave a talk in this minisymposium on “A New Mathematical Model for Hepatitis C Infection: Derivation, Analysis and Implications” in which he described a new mathematical model for the dynamics of HCV that he has developed in order to address some of the issues in current models. An analysis of the solutions of this model was also described, together with possible implications for treatment.
