Mark Roberts has been appointed Rector of the new branch of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) that has opened in Tanzania.  This branch is the fifth centre of AIMS.  The centre will bring together top global scholars in mathematics and science to teach and research with Africa’s brightest students.  Mark will be splitting his time between the University of Surrey and the AIMS Institute.  Background on the AIMS project can be found here.  The website for AIMS-Tanzania is here.
