Sara Pasquetti has been awarded an ERC Fellowship by the European Commission. The fellowship is for 5 years with funding of £1.2 million, including two PhD students and two Research Fellows. The award is part of the Horizon 2020 call ERC-2014-STG. The title of the project is “Holomorphic blocks in quantum field theory: new constructions of exact results“. A central challenge in theoretical physics is to develop non-perturbative or exact methods to describe quantitatively the dynamics of strongly coupled quantum fields. This project aims to establish new exact methods for the study of super-symmetric quantum field theories thereby unveiling new integrable structures and fostering new correspondences and dualities. The main goal of the proposed research is to develop a new cut-&-sew formalism to compute partition functions as well as expectation values of observables of super-symmetric gauge theories on a wide class of compact manifolds.
