The paper “A symplectic integrator for dynamic coupling between nonlinear vessel motion with variable cross-section and bottom topography and interior shallow-water sloshing“, authored by Hamid Alemi Ardakani, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Fluids and Structures. The paper introduces a symplectic integrator for simulation of the coupled motion between shallow-water sloshing in a moving vessel with variable cross-section and bottom topography and the nonlinear vessel dynamics. A simple and fast numerical algorithm with excellent energy conservation properties, based on the Stormer-Verlet method, is implemented. Numerical simulations of the coupled nonlinear dynamics are presented.
