Arnd Scheel, Professor Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, is visiting the department this week (11-15 April) funded by a London Mathematical Society Scheme 4 grant.  David Lloyd is host for his visit, and they are working on a project involving a theory for dislocations in pattern formation.
