The paper “Exploring data assimilation and forecasting issues for an urban crime model“, co-authored by David Lloyd, Naratip Santitissadeekorn, and Martin Short (Georgia Tech) has just appeared in the European Journal of Applied Mathematics. A link to the paper is here. The paper is part of a special issue of EJAM on “Mathematical Modelling of Crime and Security“. In the paper, they explore some of the issues that may arise in attempting to fit a dynamical systems (either agent- or continuum-based) model of urban crime to data on just the attack times and locations.
