The paper ` Lagrangian particle path formulation of multilayer shallow-water flows dynamically coupled to vessel motion’ co-authored by Matt Turner, Tom Bridges and Hamid Alemi Ardakani has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Engineering Mathematics. The paper presents a Lagrangian Particle Path (LPP) formulation for the two-layer shallow-water flow with a rigid lid. Results are presented for both two-layer and three-layer flows in both the Boussinesq and non-Boussinesq limits. This is the first study of its kind to model multi-layer flows via the LPP formulation, which has the added benefit that symplectic numerical schemes can be applied to the resulting Hamiltonian structure, thus accurately modelling energy conservation.
