Martin Wolf gave a series of invited lectures for PhD student at Heriot-Watt University last week (27 Nov – 1 Dec) on “Twistors in Gauge and Gravity Theories“. Twistors form a very natural framework to study chiral theories, and in the lectures, it was shown how they facilitate the construction of four-dimensional Yang-Mills theory and gravitational instantons as well as monopoles. Upon incorporating supertwistors, four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge and gravity theories can be studied. This latter direction leads to holomorphic Chern-Simons (type) theories on twistor space. In addition, higher-dimensional versions were analysed including non-Abelian self-dual tensor fields in six dimensions.
