Prof Dr Reinhard Richter and his PhD student Alexandra Fischer, from the Experimental Physics Group at the University of Bayreuth (link here), visited the FMS group this week.  They visited as part of a joint project between Surrey (Dan Hill, Dave Lloyd, Matt Turner) and Bayreuth, funded by the Bavarian initiative for international projects.  The project is on the theory and experiment of localised solutions at the surface of a ferrofluid.  Reinhard and Alexandria gave a talk and physical demonstration, and the picture below shows them setting up in Room 39.
