On Friday 9 April, Masanori Hanada gave a talk at an online workshop hosted by the University of Washington. The workshop was on “Quantum Simulation of Strong Interactions : Theoretical Strategies for Gauge Theories“. He gave a talk on “Orbifold lattices for Hamiltonian simulation“. The workshop discussed regularization schemes for quantum field theory that can be programmed on a quantum computer. On a quantum computer, a quantum state is expressed in terms of qubits, which are manipulated using unitary operators. Because the number of qubits on current quantum computers is relatively small, and the unitary operations imprecise, it is important to find an efficient regularization scheme. The figure below shows one of slides from Masanori‘s talk.
