Bin Cheng visited the headquarters of the UK Met Office in Exeter in early May (30th April to 2nd May) to participate in a workshop on parallel in time solvers for PDEs. It was the final meeting of the ExCALIBUR Advanced Parallel in Time Algorithms for Partial Differential Equations (APINTA-PDEs) project. Bin gained inspiration and research ideas from the numerics community and also gave a talk on “Near resonant approximation in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics” which links PDE analysis to numerical solvers. The first page of the slide show of Nigel Wood about ExCALIBUR is shown below (full show here).
