On Friday 25 October, Anne Skeldon gave an online seminar to the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience group at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany, as part of their Cybernetics Seminar series. In the talk she gave an introduction to mathematical modelling of the sleep-wake cycle, discussing the nonsmooth coupled oscillator systems that form the basis of current understanding. She talked about some of the work that she and her collaborators have done on the thorny question of whether school start times should be changed for adolescents (link here) before turning to our more recent digital-twin work (link here). Underlying everything is Anne’s on-going strong collaboration with the Surrey Sleep Research Centre and particularly the director, Derk-Jan Dijk (link here). A Linkedin advert for the event is below.
