The “Three Minute Thesis” (3MT) is a competition established by the University of Queensland in 2008 that has since spread to more than 600 universities across the world. PhD students are challenged to condense their research into a talk of three minutes or less that is engaging, inspiring and entertaining for a non-specialist audience. The 2025 final of the University of Surrey version (link here) was held today (Tuesday 17 June). Jessica Furber was one of 5 finalists and selected as the winner! Jessica‘s PhD was supervised by David Lloyd (Mathematics) and Giovanni Lo Iacono (Vet School). Jessica will now be entered into the National Competition.
