Dibakar Roychowdhury, from IIT Roorkee India, visits the Quantum Group

Dibakar Roychowdhury is visiting the School this week (16-20 June) for research interaction and to give a talk to the Quantum Group. His host for the visit is Alessandro Torrielli, and his talk (on Tuesday 17th) was on “Timelike Entanglement — A top down perspective” and it was based on arXiv:2505:20388. His visit is partially funded by a grant from the Royal Society of London. A photo of Alessandro and Dibakar is shown below (photo credit: Andrea Prinsloo).

An abstract of Dibakar’s talk follows: The analytic extension of Ryu-Takayanagi (RT) formula for time-like subsystems has gained renewed attention in recent years and has become an active area of investigation particularly in the context of holography. In spite of these developments, the analytic continuation for higher dimensional QFTs remains conceptually challenging. The purpose of this talk is precisely to address this issue and provide an alternate recipe for cooking up timelike entanglement entropy (tEE) for higher dimensional QFTs. Our prescription not only provides a natural path that takes from Euclidean entanglement entropy to Lorenzian (or timelike) entanglement entropy, it also paves a natural way of mapping all the associated QFT features in a real time formalism.
