Congratulations to Dominic Stone for passing his PhD viva! The viva took place on Wednesday 29 October. Dominic‘s thesis was on lower bounds of the attractor dimension for 2D Navier–Stokes equations (preprint here), as well as regularity and existence for the 3D Navier-Stokes-Brinkman-Forchheimer equaion (published paper here). His examiners were James Robinson (Warwick) and Camilla Nobili, with Bin Cheng in the role of chair. Dominic‘s principal supervisor was Sergey Zelik with second supervisor Jon Bevan. The photo below shows Dominic and Sergey at the pre-viva talk, with background blackboard showing Dominic’s sketch of the vortex theory for lower bounds. (Photo credit: Camilla Nobili)
